The Dallas Indicators is a collaborative partnership between the Dallas Foundation and the Foundation for Community Empowerment.  The goal of Dallas Indicators is democratizing data.  In our increasingly cost-benefit, business-oriented world, data—objective, focused information—has come to be the primary tool which drives change.  Funders and policy-makers in government, corporate, and non-profit arenas all want to see data.  Data gives us insight and new perspectives on what is, what can be, and how we can get there.  He who has the data is in a uniquely powerful position to shape social policy and engineer social change.  By putting data about our community’s key attributes back into the hands of the community, we create an informed citizenry of potential grassroots leaders, each with the power to confirm anecdotal knowledge, develop and target local solutions, secure funding, and make the case for broader policy changes.  Through the simple sharing of information, the Dallas Indicators Project creates a better community.
