Dr. Tim Bray, Director of the Williams Institute, was recently invited to testify before the Texas Senate Committee on Intergovernmental Relations Hearing on Recommendations for Texas Housing Programs.  Click here to read his entire statement on this critical issue.

The 9th annual North Texas Housing Coalition Housing Summit was held on January 24, 2008. This daylong information sharing and business education forum actively engages local, state and national leaders in the development of affordable housing solutions for North Texas.

RECORD ATTENDANCE MARKS THIRD ANNUAL WILLIAMS INSTITUTE CONFERENCE
This year's Conference saw a record attendance of nearly 700, more than doubling last year's attendance.  Please visit the Annual Conference page on the J. 2007 WHOLENESS INDEX UPDATE RELEASED

FEMINIZATION OF POVERTY PUBLIC POLICY FORUM A HUGE SUCCESS
This exciting event on May 7, 2007, co-sponsored by the YWCA, explored the ways in which poverty is increasingly affecting women.  The forum included a panel discussion in which three courageous local women shared their experiences with poverty, and a keynote address by Cupcake Brown.  Download the white paper that was included in attendees' packets


CHILDHOOD WELLBEING REPORT RELEASED
Critical Years: Childhood Wellbeing in Dallas County is a joint project of The Dallas Foundation and the J. McDonald Williams Institute.  This study aims to provide a comprehensive picture of the state of childhood wellbeing in Dallas County, by focusing on the social, emotional, educational, environmental, and physical influences that contribute to the development of the youngest of the young—children ages 0 to 3.  Click here to download the report.
